Overview

Cancer. It's a word no one likes to hear and a diagnosis no one wants. We understand that caring for patients with cancer means caring for the whole patient - body, mind and spirit. At Northwestern Memorial Hospital, we put our patients first in an effort to deliver the best cancer care.

We work together to provide comprehensive care

In partnership with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University at Northwestern Memorial Hospital , a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated "comprehensive" cancer center, we provide the best possible care to patients and their families and caregivers. The Lurie Cancer Center is also a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, which is an alliance of 21 of the country's leading cancer centers. This network is dedicated to enhancing cancer care by developing clinical practice guidelines which are updated each year to help patients understand treatment recommendations. Northwestern oncologists are active and key participants in cancer initiatives. Physicians also hold leadership roles in numerous professional organizations nationally.

In 2008, U.S. News & World Report rated us as one of America's Best Hospitals for cancer care. Our cancer care focuses on awareness, early detection, treatment and rehabilitation of many cancers, including:
