Northwestern Memorial's Transplant Growth
- Largest living donor kidney transplant program in the country
- For the second consecutive year, Northwestern Memorial was the largest living donor kidney transplant program in the country, performing 166 living donor kidney transplants in 2008.
- All donor surgeries are performed using the laparoscopic procedure.
- Largest and most successful kidney transplant program in Illinois and one of the largest in the Midwest
- More than 2,700 kidney transplants have been performed at Northwestern Memorial since the program’s inception.
- 245 kidney transplants were performed in 2008.
- Largest and most successful liver transplant program in Illinois and one of the largest in the Midwest
- More than 1,000 liver transplants have been performed at Northwestern Memorial since the program’s inception.
- 107 liver transplants were performed in 2008.
- 110 living donor liver transplants have been performed since 1993, the most of any transplant center in Illinois.
- Largest and most successful pancreas transplant program in Illinois
- Northwestern Memorial performed 31 pancreas transplants in 2008.
