Suzanne is an advanced practice nurse in cardiothoracic surgery and the ventricular assist device (VAD) coordinator for the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Suzanne has worked in cardiothoracic surgery for over 10 years - with the majority of her experience at the University of Chicago Hospital. Suzanne completed her undergraduate studies at Purdue University and went on to complete her graduate work at Loyola University in Chicago. She is certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC, and is an active member of AACN, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Suzanne joined the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute team in 2005. Her areas of special interest include: VADs, heart transplantation and ventricular remodeling.
Suzanne has lectured locally and nationally on various cardiac surgery topics including: postoperative management of the cardiac surgery patient, VADs, cardiac transplantation, atrial fibrillation, EKG interpretation, and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP). She has been a research study coordinator for multiple cardiac/VAD clinical research trials at both institutions.
