Biography
Dr. Benzuly is an attending cardiologist at the Northwestern Memorial Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and the Coronary Care Unit.
In the coronary care unit and cardiac catheterization lab, Dr. Benzuly specializes in invasive and interventional cardiology, and in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction and peripheral vascular disease.
Dr. Benzuly is an associate professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. He is a fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He also serves on the American Heart Association's Council on Clinical Cardiology.
Dr. Benzuly's research interests include treatment of coronary artery disease and acute myocardial infarction and the improvement of outcomes in patients undergoing coronary intervention. He is an investigator in a number of multicenter clinical trials of new technologies for coronary revascularization. Dr. Benzuly also serves on the curriculum committee for the Scientific Basis of Medicine in the Feinberg School of Medicine.
Dr. Benzuly received his BA from Northwestern University where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He then received his MD from University of California, San Francisco. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Dr. Benzuly served as a cardiology fellow at the University of Iowa, and then completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
