Biography

Dr. Maganti is a cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the medical director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Her special interests include valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, and echocardiography.

Dr. Maganti is an Associate professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and conducts research on valvular heart disease and atherosclerosis. Her current research initiatives include: 2- and 3-dimensional echocardiography for evaluation of left ventricular geometric changes in valvular heart disease; evaluation of atrial velocities on transesophageal echocardiography; evaluation of natural history of patients with bicuspid aortic valve disease, study of beneficial effects of exercise and cardiac rehabilitation, gender differences in response to supervised exercise in patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation, and evaluation of feedback in motivating patients to exercise.

Dr. Maganti is also active in a number of professional societies, including the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Heart Association Go Red for Women luncheon and Women in Cardiology Committee, and the American College of Cardiology. She also reviews journal articles and abstracts for major medical journals and scientific societies.

Dr. Maganti attended medical school at Guntur Medical College in India, and went on to complete her internship and residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She completed her cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and completed advanced imaging fellowship at Northwestern University. She is board certified in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and internal medicine. Dr. Maganti speaks fluent Telugu and some Hindi.
