Prentice Women's Hospital Celebrates the 10,000th Delivery of Fiscal Year 2007
It’s a girl! On August 15, caregivers in Prentice Women's Hospital accomplished a milestone with the record-setting 10,000th delivery during fiscal year 2007. Cait Celeste, a healthy baby girl, was born at 8:54 p.m. to Chicago parents Michelle Byerly and Ben Jones. The delivery marks the first time Prentice has reached 10,000 deliveries in a single fiscal year and at the current pace, Prentice could record nearly 10,500 deliveries before the year ends on August 31.
Prentice currently delivers more babies each year than any other hospital in the Midwest and is among the top 10 in the nation by volume of births. Deliveries at Prentice have more than doubled over the past two decades, and this number is expected to grow when the doors of the new Prentice Women’s Hospital open October 20, which will have expanded capacity for 13,600 births annually.
