On September 12, 2008, William H. Pearce, MD, received the 2008 Faculty Mentor of the Year Award from the Medical Faculty Senate Council of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

This award recognizes faculty who have demonstrated commitment to fostering the professional growth and development of their junior faculty colleagues.  Dr. Pearce exemplifies this commitment, having mentored vascular trainees (more than 40 fellows, residents, and medical students) as well as junior faculty members.  The nomination and support for this award was by his mentees, many of whom cited his emphasis on developing a well-rounded life in addition to clinical and scientific expertise.

Dr. Pearce is the chief of Vascular Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, associate director of the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute, surgical director of the Center for Vascular Disease, and the Violet R. and Charles A.
