Comprehensive Epilepsy Center

The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital is designated a Level 4 referral center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. This designation certifies that the Comprehensive Epilepsy Monitoring Center provides the highest level of medical and surgical diagnostic and treatment options for epilepsy patients.

Together with the advanced resources of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Department of Neurology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center provides epilepsy services in one location, offering patients a multidisciplinary approach to their care, including:

  • Assessment by an epilepsy and seizure disorder neurologist
  • Comprehensive pharmacological therapy
  • Neurosurgical therapy evaluation
  • Opportunity to participate in clinical research trials
  • Social work services: consultation, counseling, support groups, access to community services and resources
  • Long-term care for patients with refractory epilepsy
  • Specialized care for specific patient populations, such as women during childbearing years and pregnancy, elderly with epilepsy, and patients with seizures and chronic conditions like cardiac, pulmonary, or kidney disease.
