Bernadette is a nurse practitioner for the cardiology and heart failure team at Northwestern’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. Bernadette has seven years of critical care experience and three years of experience working in interventional cardiology before graduating in May of 2012 with a Masters in Nursing as a nurse practitioner and also specializing in cardiology with a subspecialty in cardiovascular health from Loyola University Chicago.
Bernadette joined the team of nurse practitioners and physician assistants that assume primary care for patients admitted to the Galter 10 inpatient cardiology floor. Bernadette enjoys the team aspect of the group that works closely together on a daily basis. The team collaborates with an attending cardiologist to deliver patient centered care along with a dynamic group of nurses, pharmacists, social workers, care managers, and dieticians. The patient population on Galter 10 includes but is not limited to general cardiology, newly diagnosed and advanced heart failure patients and also pre and post heart transplant patients.
Bernadette is certified as an adult nurse practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is an active member of the Preventative Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA), Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses (ISAPN) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) as well as the American Heart Association (AHA).
