Biographical Sketch:

Michele has been a nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for over 30 years, where a significant portion of her career was spent working in the medical intensive care unit (MICU) and coronary care unit (CCU). While working in the CCU, Michele became proficient in the monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms. She specifically remembers one patient who was experiencing incessant ventricular tachycardia and eventually received an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). This patient initiated her interest in cardiac electrophysiology (EP) – the study of the electrical conduction system of the heart.

Michele joined the electrophysiology lab staff in 1998 and has been the electrophysiology nurse coordinator since 2007. She coordinates the care and education of patients who will undergo EP procedures, including radio frequency ablation of arrhythmias and pacemaker or ICD implantation. She also works in the pacemaker and ICD device clinic helping to manage patients after they receive their devices.

Michele believes quality patient education is directly correlated to positive patient outcome.
