Biographical Sketch:

Maribeth's nursing career started at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 1989 where she worked as an intensive care unit nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Coronary Care Unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Maribeth went back for her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree while working in the intensive care units.

Since 2002, Maribeth has been in her current position with the cardiology consult team. In this role, she is responsible for seeing patients in the hospital who require a cardiology consult. She collaborates with cardiologists and nursing staff to establish plan of care as needed. Maribeth helps to improve and monitor telemetry utilization, which includes deciding when patients need to be on telemetry and when it can be discontinued. She assists with cardiology research, including helping to recruit patients for research conducted within the Department of Cardiology.

In addition, she develops and presents cardiac educational presentations to patients as well as nursing staff and is the co-director of CardioVascular Nursing Grand Rounds within the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. She was recently the site coordinator for a nationwide Magnet hospital research study entitled Improving Heart Failure Outcomes (IHO). Maribeth is a member of the American Heart Association.
