School of Nuclear Medicine Technology

  • Michelle Gruchot was the recipient of the annual Student Award of Excellence at the Class of 2011 Graduation ceremony in August.

  • Of the Nuclear Medicine Technologists currently employed at Northwestern Memorial, ten are graduates from our program.

  • Eleven Northwestern Memorial Nuclear Medicine students presented their scientific abstracts at the Central Chapter Society of Nuclear Medicine Meeting in Chicago, IL in March 2011. Four of these students received awards for their presentations. Chris J. and Kim M. placed first and second in the research category, and Shavonne S. and Brad B. placed first and second in the educational category.

  • Two teams of Northwestern Memorial students participated in the second annual quiz-bowl at the Central Chapter Society of Nuclear Medicine Meeting.

  • All twelve Nuclear Medicine students’ abstracts were accepted for presentation at the Annual Society of Nuclear Medicine Meeting in San Antonio, Texas in June 2011. Jeremy M. placed first overall for his abstract presentation.

  • Karamdeep V. from Benedictine University received the Royce Osborn Minority Student Scholarship.

  • Brad B., Chris J., and Beth L. each received a travel grant for their participation in the University of Wisconsin La Crosse’s Office of Undergraduate Research Symposium.

  • The School of Nuclear Medicine Technology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital is proud to welcome a new academic affiliate, the University of St. Francis, to our program. 

School of Radiation Therapy

  • The Class of 2011 graduated four students in August. All students are employed and have passed their national board exams. Two students were hired by NMH, one student was hired by NLFH and one was hired by another local hospital.

  • The Class of 2012 began the program in June of 2011 and consists of five students. Two students from Roosevelt University and 1 student from Benedictine University are pursuing a 3 + 1 B.S. Degree in Radiation Therapy, and two students have Bachelor’s degrees in Radiologic Technology.

  • Of the Radiation Therapists employed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Radiation Oncology Department, 15 are graduates from our program.

  • The Radiation Therapy program is proud to report a 100 percent pass rate on the national board exams since the school’s inception.

School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography

  • The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Class of 2010 graduated three new sonographers on December 7, 2010. One of our graduates, Danielle, is employed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital Feinberg Ultrasound Department. The other graduates are also employed in sonography positions.

  • All graduates are nationally certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in Abdomen and one is also registered in the OB-GYN specialty.

  • The Class of 2011 began the program in July of 2010 and consists of three academic affiliate students from an affiliated university and a recent Radiologic Technology bachelor degree graduate from Wisconsin. They will graduate from the program on December 6, 2011. Some students are taking their Sonography Physics and Instrumentation national registry prior to graduating from the program.

  • The School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography is pleased to welcome 2 new clinical sites: the NMPG OB-GYN Department at 680 N. Lake Shore Drive, and the Ultrasound Department at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.

School of Radiography

  • The class of 2011 took their ARRT national board examination in late-June and had a 100 percent first-attempt pass rate, with a class average score of 89.3.

  • The class of 2011 graduated in June. All 6 graduates have obtained employment, 5 with NMH: Sam L., Jessica C, Brook M., Leticia F., and Jessica J.(MRI).

  • Brook M. was the recipient of the annual JRCERT Clinical Excellence Award at the Class of 2011 Graduation ceremony in June.

  • The new cohort of 10 students began in September (class of 2013). Six of the students are University of St. Francis students pursuing the 2 + 2 B.S. Degree in Radiography.

  • Christopher W. (class of 2012) has won the “Welcome to Your Future” essay competition sponsored by the ASRT. As part of the award, Christopher received an all expense paid trip to the ASRT Educational Symposium in Albuquerque, NM.
