Gestational Diabetes

Treatment for gestational diabetes involves controlling blood sugar levels during pregnancy and labor and delivery. It is absolutely essential that women with gestational diabetes keep their blood sugar at a healthy level in order to keep their babies healthy and to prevent diabetes-related complications during labor and delivery.

Diet and exercise are an important part of gestational diabetes treatment, but many women will also have to monitor their blood sugar daily and, if necessary, take insulin.
