Enhanced Arrhythmia Consultation Services Open at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute for Patients with Cardiovascular Disease
Clinic space at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute.
Two enhanced arrhythmia consultation services are now offered to cardiovascular patients through the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute: the Atrial Fibrillation Treatment Evaluation Program and the Heart Failure - Device Evaluation Program.
It is the goal of these two programs to work with the patient and the referring physician(s) to provide individualized, state-of-the-art care to treat atrial fibrillation and/or heart failure. It is through the cooperation of the cardiac electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons and heart failure specialists that these two unique programs can be offered at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute.
Atrial Fibrillation Treatment Evaluation Program
Through the Center for Atrial Fibrillation, the Atrial Fibrillation Treatment Evaluation Program offers the most advanced and innovative approaches to the treatment of atrial fibrillation, including both catheter ablation and surgical ablation approaches. The cardiac electrophysiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons work together to offer either electrophysiologic consultation or combined electrophysiologic/cardiothoracic surgery consultation to identify the most appropriate and individualized treatment options for patients with atrial fibrillation.
For more information regarding the Atrial Fibrillation Treatment Evaluation Program, call the Center for Atrial Fibrillation at 866-662-8467.
Heart Failure - Device Evaluation Program
Device therapy (including biventricular pacing, cardioverter defibrillators, and ventricular assist devices) has become an integral and successful part of the management of patients with heart failure. Through the Center for Heart Failure, the Heart Failure-Device Evaluation Program offers a thorough evaluation of the heart failure patient provided by both a heart failure physician and a cardiac electrophysiologist. The Heart Failure-Device Evaluation Program is for patients with ejection fractions under 40 percent (with or without heart failure symptoms) whose care may now require device therapies and for patients that no longer respond to biventricular pacing to evaluate alternative pacing approaches or other heart failure interventions.
