Biographical Sketch:

Amy is a nurse practitioner with the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Since January 2008, she has been working in the outpatient cardiac surgery clinic facilitating preoperative testing, educating patients before surgery, and seeing patients in clinic for post-operative follow-up.

After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Missouri in Columbia, she worked in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at University of Missouri Hospital as a registered nurse. Upon moving to Chicago to obtain her master's degree, she took a position at Children's Memorial in the operating room as a circulating and scrub nurse, allowing her experience within a variety of specialties. Also, while obtaining her graduate degree at Loyola University, Amy worked at Loyola University Hospital researching Acute Coronary Syndrome, with a focus on gender differences and symptom presentation. After graduating from her master's program, Amy took a position with the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute.

Amy is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
