Elizabeth is a Heart Transplant Coordinator for the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She is a member of the cardiac procurement team and coordinates the care for heart transplant patients in the inpatient setting. She has worked with cardiac surgery patients in the acute care setting for over eleven years.
After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Missouri in 1997, Elizabeth started working in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, specializing in the care of heart and lung transplant patients, as well as patients with ventricular assist devices. In 1998, she began working with the Cleveland Clinic cardiothoracic organ procurement team, where she participated in over 50 organ procurements.
Elizabeth came to the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute in 2004 to accept a position as the staff educator in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). Her role provided education related to cardiac transplantation and ventricular assist devices. With the re-launch of the Heart Transplant Program at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute in 2005, Elizabeth accepted the position of Heart Transplant Coordinator. She is a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
