Biographical Sketch:

Katie is a heart transplant coordinator for Northwestern’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute, Center for Heart Failure. Katie began her career at Northwestern Memorial in 2006, where for six years she recovered patients that received ventricular assist device placement, heart transplant, general cardiac surgery, as well as thoracic and vascular surgeries. As a staff nurse, Katie concentrated on patient education - teaching classes that informed patients how to manage after surgery and upon discharge from the hospital.

Currently Katie’s responsibilities include managing medical follow-up for all post heart transplant patients, specifically collaboration with cardiology and cardiac surgery, and coordinating outpatient care with multiple divisions of medicine.

Katie completed her Associated Degree in Nursing at Prairie State College in Illinois in 2006 with honors. She is currently obtaining a bachelor of science at Chamberlain College of Nursing in Addison, Illinois. She is a member of the Nursing Honorary Society and the International Transplant Nurses Society.
