Biographical Sketch:

Originally from Cleveland Ohio, Ani Iskra received her bachelor's degree from Ursuline College in 1996 with a focus in chemistry. Following graduation, her clinical focus was in solid organ transplant surgery, colorectal surgery and bariatric surgery. While pursuing her master's degree at Case Western Reserve University, she worked as a staff nurse caring for ears, nose and throat (ENT) surgery patients and geriatric patients, which involved a significant degree of palliative and hospice care.

Ani began her career as a nurse practitioner in 2001 at a small community hospital concentrating on heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, pneumonia care and hospice and palliative care. A change in 2004 brought Ani to Chicago where she began her career in vascular surgery at the University of Chicago. During her four years at the University of Chicago, Ani was heavily involved with staff education concerning  pre-operative and post-operative care of vascular surgery patients. In addition, she worked to standardize post-operative care of the vascular surgery patient.

Ani has presented nationally, at the Society of Vascular Nursing conference and continues to volunteer as a lecturer speaking on topics such as hypercoagulable disorders and stem cell research. Ani has been a member of Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation in the Department of Vascular Surgery since April 2008.
