If you are ever the victim of trauma or become critically ill and require surgery, a general surgeon may care for you. A general surgeon is a specialist who is trained to have the knowledge and technical skills to manage a wide spectrum of surgical conditions.

The numerous attending surgeons in the Division of General Surgery are all faculty members of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. Individual attending surgeons have expertise in surgical critical care and in breast, colon, endocrine, gastrointestinal, laparoscopic, minimally invasive, oncologic, and trauma surgery.

Conditions we evaluate, diagnose and treat include:

  • Acute trauma
  • Critical illness
  • Domestic violence
  • Multi-organ failure
