Within the Infectious Disease Center, the HIV program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital has led the way in treating patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) since 1988.
Services at the HIV Center include:

Medication evaluation and teaching by a pharmacist
Clinical social work services
Home health care coordination
Consultation with a patient’s primary physician
Clinical research studies
Infusion therapy services
Inpatient consultation and care coordination
- When patients with HIV infection require inpatient hospitalization at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, we follow their care with an interdisciplinary HIV team to insure continuity of care.
We have specialty clinics to treat HIV infected patients who have additional needs:
Provide consultation and evaluation for HIV patients seeking organ transplantation.
Provides hematology consultation to patients with HIV and hemophilia.
Provides obstetric and gynecologic care for women with HIV infection.
