Chicago -

To the Women of Chicago:

Please accept my sincere apology to those of you who have had difficulty scheduling a timely appointment for a mammogram at the Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center of Northwestern Memorial Hospital.  Your health is and will always be our highest priority.

The growing national shortage of radiologists who have advanced training in reading mammograms has had a significant impact on us.  As the largest single-site breast center in Illinois, this reality has caused us to reduce the number of available appointments for mammograms, from 250 to 170 a day, in order to maintain the high standards of quality and personalized care you have come to expect from us.  This reduction has created unacceptable wait times for appointments.

Rest assured, we are aggressively recruiting these specialists and believe that by next summer we will have the additional medical staff needed to resume our full schedule.
If you are a patient of the Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center and you have not scheduled your mammogram, we urge you to do so immediately.   If you desire to be seen sooner than we can accommodate you, we will help you make an appointment at the time of your call with another accredited facility.  You may also contact the American College of Radiology directly at 800-227-5463 or www.acr.org for a list of other area accredited centers.

Thank you for your understanding.  We are committed to keeping you informed as updates are available.
