Chicago -

Lind succeeds Joy V. Cunningham who left Northwestern Memorial last December to assume the elected post of Appellate Court Judge of Illinois’ first district.

Carol M. Lind has been appointed senior vice president and general counsel for Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, the parent corporation of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Lind joined Northwestern Memorial in 2006 as vice president and chief administrative executive and in August was promoted to senior vice president for governance and strategy. Lind will report to Dean M. Harrison, president and chief executive officer for Northwestern Memorial HealthCare.

“Our organization welcomes the legal and strategic expertise that Carol brings to this important role,” says Harrison. “Carol’s rise within the ranks of our leadership demonstrates her professional talents and natural ability to foster the necessary rapport that has earned her the respect of her colleagues. Carol has been instrumental in managing several joint planning initiatives with our campus partners. We look forward to her continued contributions toward the advancement of Northwestern Memorial as one of our nation’s great academic medical centers.”

Lind’s most recent areas of responsibility included overseeing Northwestern Memorial’s corporate integrity program, real estate strategy and numerous initiatives integral to governance.

Lind earned a bachelor’s degree from Williams College and a Jurist Doctorate with honors from the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to joining Northwestern Memorial, she spent 12 years at Sidley Austin LLP, where she made partner. While at Sidley Austin, Lind worked in the firm’s corporate and securities practice, focusing on corporate counseling and governance, mergers and acquisitions and securities offerings. Her clients ranged from Fortune 500 companies to community based organizations.
