Advances in minimally invasive surgery are making many types of surgeries safer and easier of the patients. At Northwestern Memorial Hospital, we perform a variety of minimally invasive surgeries, including the newest, least-invasive procedures.
We are constantly seeking ways to improve the quality of our healthcare and the quality of life for our patients, so we work hard to be at the forefront of medical advances. For example, as of February, 2009, our team of surgeons was the only one in the country using natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery, or NOTES, to perform gallbladder removals both through the vagina and through the mouth.
Some examples of the types of minimally invasive treatment options we offer are:
- Endolumenal surgery
- NOTES (natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery)
- Robotic surgery
- Single incision laparoscopic surgery
If you are interested in speaking to one of our surgeons about any of our minimally invasive surgery options, and you’d like to make a first time appointment, please call our Physician Referral Department at 1-877-926-4664 or request an appointment online.
