Advances in minimally invasive surgery are making many types of surgeries safer and easier of the patients. At Northwestern Memorial Hospital, we perform a variety of minimally invasive surgeries, including the newest, least-invasive procedures.

We are constantly seeking ways to improve the quality of our healthcare and the quality of life for our patients, so we work hard to be at the forefront of medical advances. For example, as of February, 2009, our team of surgeons was the only one in the country using  natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery, or NOTES, to perform gallbladder removals both through the vagina and through the mouth.
