Mother and Daughter Undergo Heart Valve Surgery at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute

Laura McNamara, daughter, and Joanne Kennedy, mother, both underwent heart valve surgery at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute's Center for Heart Valve Disease in 2008.Laura, 38 years old, had her bicuspid aortic valve repaired in June 2008, while Joanne, 66 years old, had her mitral valve repaired in October 2008.
"I shopped around and had many physicians look at my test results, but all the signs kept pointing back to Dr. McCarthy doing the surgery," stated Laura. Patrick M. McCarthy, MD not only performed Laura's surgery, he also performed Joanne's. "Laura and I were blessed to find our way to the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute and to Dr. McCarthy," stated Joanne.
In November 2008, Joanne and Laura were featured on American Health Front - a public awareness medical news television program designed to educate viewers about important advances in medical technique and technology.
