Damage to the components of your nervous system sometimes requires surgery. Neurosurgeons are specially-trained surgeons who treat conditions affecting the brain, spine, peripheral nerves and the arteries of the neck.

Northwestern's Department of Neurological Surgery is among the nation's leading centers of neurological care, teaching and research.

Special expertise is available in all areas of neurosurgery. Northwestern's highly trained, specialized neurosurgical faculty provides expertise in the treatment of cerebrovascular conditions as well as routine and complex problems of the spine, and treatment of functional disorders such as epilepsy and movement disorders.
