Northwestern Memorial Ranked Among the "100 Best Companies For Working Mothers" for the Eighth Consecutive Year
Northwestern Memorial Hospital has been named one of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” by Working Mother magazine for the eighth consecutive year. The prestigious award honors organizations dedicated to meeting the growing needs of working mothers and their families, showcasing programs, flexible work arrangements and examples of company culture that support a family-friendly workplace.
One of only eight Illinois companies to make the 2007 list, Northwestern Memorial received top rankings in several areas, including company culture, representation of women in the workplace and management positions, compensation and the opportunity for flexible work schedules. Several additional factors were also mentioned, including the presence of on-site childcare, tuition reimbursement, scholarships, a new adoption assistance program and family-friendly offerings such as employee assistance, concierge services and lactation programs.
"As the bar continues to be raised each year, I am pleased we continue to be recognized for our dedication to providing an environment that supports working families," said Dean Manheimer, senior vice president of human resources at Northwestern Memorial.
The “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” winners are selected based on seven areas that are measured and scored: workplace profile, compensation, child care, flexibility, time off and leaves, family-friendly programs and company culture. This year, Working Mother gave particular weight to flexibility and family-friendly programs.
The 2007 “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” are featured in the October issue of Working Mother magazine.
