The nurses at Northwestern Memorial Hospital are among the best in the nation. Magnet status is awarded to organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing practice, exemplary quality outcomes, and an environment that fosters shared leadership and decision-making. In 2010, Northwestern Memorial achieved Magnet redesignation.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in June 2006, and was redesignated for another four years in December 2010. Only six percent of hospitals nationally have achieved this honor and status, and only three percent of hospitals have achieved redesignation.
