The Northwestern Memorial nurse is baccalaureate prepared or higher and seeks continual educational development through pursuit of an advanced degree or participation in ongoing learning activities. In fiscal year 2011, 84 percent of our nurses held a BSN or higher.
The Northwestern Memorial nurse seeks to become specialty certified in his/her area of practice upon eligibility. In fiscal year 2011, 45.2 percent of eligible nurses were specialty certified.
The Northwestern Memorial nurse actively volunteers within the community. A few of our larger volunteer events include: Chicago Cares, Polar Plunge, Hustle up the Hancock, March of Dimes and the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure.
