Overview
The Northwestern Pediatric and Adolescent Neurovascular Disease and Stroke Program is a unique partnership of the neurosurgery programs at Northwestern Memorial and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
The program, founded and led by Executive Director H. Hunt Batjer, MD, is designed to provide comprehensive treatments and services in all areas of neurovascular care for patients ranging in age from infancy through adulthood. By combining the talents of the pediatric-trained neurosurgeons at Children's Hospital of Chicago with the in-depth experience of the cerebrovascular surgeons at Northwestern Memorial, the program offers high-caliber care at all stages of life.
Some of the conditions we specialize in include:
- Cerebral aneurysm
- Arterial venous malformation (AVM)
- Cavernous malformations
- Moyamoya syndrome
- Stroke
- Vein of Galen malformations
Our multidisciplinary team investigates and delivers new technologies, drugs, techniques and devices, to treat and manage all aspects of neurovascular disease. It is our mission to meet the needs of our young patients from the very beginning of diagnosis all the way through treatment, rehabilitation, reentering school perhaps, and finally to the full responsibilities of adulthood with maximum capabilities. All of which translates into providing the best patient care.
