Sameer A. Ansari, M.D., Ph.D is a Neurointerventional Surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Assistant Professor in the Departments of Radiology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Ansari completed his Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology fellowship training at the University of Michigan. His clinical practice is based on minimally invasive percutaneous and endovascular procedures of the head/neck and spine including embolization of intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous fistulas or arteriovenous malformations; intra-arterial chemical or mechanical thrombolysis for acute stroke; carotid/intracranial angioplasty and stenting; balloon test occlusions, carotid sacrifice or stent-graft salvage; tumor embolizations (meningiomas, glomus tumors, juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas, hypervascular metastasis); kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty for osteoporotic or metastatic compression fractures; image-guided ablation of metastatic tumors, and CT guided biopsies.

His clinical research interests have investigated the safety and efficacy of coated coils in the embolization of intracranial aneurysms as well as the role of intracranial stents in the treatment of distal cervical/intracranial dissections. In the basic sciences at the laboratory level, Dr Ansari is interested in the molecular pathogenesis and imaging of neurovascular disease. He has coauthored over 40 scientific publications and review articles and actively participates in peer review of scientific papers in several neurointerventional and neurosurgery journals.
He is an active member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS), American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), American University Radiologists (AUR), American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and American College of Radiology (ACR).
