Biography

Dr. Bendok graduated from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and completed his neurosurgical training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a focus on microsurgical and interventional techniques for complex neurovascular diseases and tumors. He received the AANS/CNS Mullan Neuroendovascular Fellowship Award and completed a neuroendovascular surgery fellowship at the State University of New York at Buffalo under the mentorship of Dr. L Nelson Hopkins, a pioneer and international leader in vascular and interventional neurosurgery. A member of the neurovascular surgery and stroke programs and Director of the Neurointerventional program at Northwestern, Dr. Bendok holds a joint appointment in the Departments of Neurological Surgery and Radiology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and is on Staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. At Northwestern Dr. Bendok has developed collaborations with multiple departments including otolaryngology, neurology and radiology to enhance patient care by refining minimally invasive approaches and incorporating advanced imaging into patient care.

Dr. Bendok is recognized nationally and internationally for treating highly complex neurovascular diseases and tumors by utilizing modern microsurgical and interventional techniques.

Dr. Bendok believes in thoughtfully incorporating innovative technologies and innovative approaches to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life. Dr. Bendok believes in individualized and personalized care where all options are carefully considered and patient wishes are respected.

Dr Bendok's research focuses on cutting edge clinical trials and improving patient outcomes and safety through innovative surgical and interventional techniques. Dr. Bendok has authored over 200 scientific papers and book chapters, has presented over 300 papers and lectures at major meetings and symposia, and has co-directed several symposia at Northwestern. Dr Bendok is the recipeint of numerous distinctions and awards for his reserach and excellence in patient care including Alpha Omega Alpha membership and the Patient's Choice Award.
