Honorio T. Benzon, MD, is a Professor of Anesthesiology, Senior Associate Chair for Academic Affairs, and Chief of the Division of Pain Medicine of the Department of Anesthesiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines, and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His research training is in neurophysiology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He has written original articles, review articles, editorials, and book chapters in the field of pain medicine and regional anesthesia. He is the chief editor of the books ""Essentials of Pain Medicine and Regional Anesthesia"" and the 4th edition of the ""Raj's Practical Management of Pain"". He is an editor of ""Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and Anesthesia and Analgesia"", and is on the editorial boards of the Clinical Journal of Pain and Pain Practice. He won the ""Golden Apple Award"" from the Department of Anesthesiology of Northwestern, the ""Deans Award for Teaching Excellence 2003"" from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and the 2010 ""Distinguished Service Award"" of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia.
