Biography
Dr. Choudhury has trained in the United States, England, and Ireland throughout her career as a cardiologist. A graduate of the University College Galway, National University of Ireland, where she placed fourth in her class with 3 Gold Medals, Dr. Choudhury completed her internship and residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Choudhury was the chief resident at Wayne State University's Harper Hospital, where she reviewed manuscripts and abstracts for a number of professional meetings and publications and co-chaired an American College of Physicians Regional Chapter Meeting.
She conducted a research fellowship at Hammersmith Hospital in the United Kingdom resulting in a doctoral thesis on the study of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy using Positron emission Tomography. Subsequently she completed her cardiology fellowship at Northwestern University/Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Her specific areas of interest include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, nuclear cardiology, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and noninvasive assessment of coronary artery disease.
Dr. Choudhury has also had extensive teaching experience, teaching bedside skills, CPR, and other didactic courses such as the Hammersmith Diploma in Cardiology as well as Clinical skills to Medical Students at Northwestern. She is an assistant professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and a member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.
Her current research initiative is a study of the utility of cardiac MR in risk stratification of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Dr. Choudhury is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and nuclear cardiology. She is also fluent in Bengali.
