Biography

Dr. Stephanie Cox-Batson recently joined The Northwestern Specialists for Women. For several years Dr. Cox-Batson lead the Women’s Health Department for a large organization with locations throughout the city of Chicago. She has been on staff at Northwestern for many years and is well known to the physicians of The Northwestern Specialists for Women. Dr. Cox-Batson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the dedicated team at Northwestern Specialists for Women. She believes women inherently have the tools needed to lead healthy and fulfilling lives, and her goal is to assist women in realizing their health potential. Utilizing technology and science while respecting her patients’ spirit and natural strength, Dr. Cox-Batson is able to build strong relationships and achieve excellent outcomes.

Dr. Cox-Batson received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, where she ran track and graduated with honors. She obtained her medical degree and a master’s degree in Neurophysiology from Washington University in St. Louis. While there she was one a few students in the country named a National Health Service Corp Scholar and was elected class president. She returned to Chicago in 1994 for her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern’s Prentice Women’s Hospital. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Cox-Batson is a member of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, where she serves on the Humanitarian Committee.

Dr. Cox-Batson practices the full scope of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her special interests are the management of fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal pap smears and HPV, the pregnant athlete, adolescents, sexual dysfunction and menopause. She is skilled in minimally invasive surgeries, hysterectomy alternatives, and hormonal therapies. She respects complimentary medicine and welcomes Spanish speaking patients.
In her spare time Stephanie helps staff a clinic in Nicaragua and trains physicians in the developing world. She enjoys competing in triathlons, figure skating, cooking and literature. Though she considers herself a “Midwestern Girl” from outside the Windy City, she is married to a die-hard Chicagoan. Her greatest joy and challenge is being the mother of twin daughters.
