Biography
Jose C. Dutra, MD, is an assistant professor at the Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and is currently the Director of the Thyroid Surgical Clinic at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
He accomplished his general surgery training at Hospital da Lagoa, Rio de Janeiro in 1982. He then went on to additional training in head and neck surgery at the Institute Gustave Roussy in Paris, France, the largest cancer center in Europe. He then completed another surgical residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in 2000.
Dr Dutra is passionate about management of thyroid cancer and its complications. He has special interest in reoperative thyroid surgery, thyroid ultrasonography and the management of recurrent thyroid cancer. He has been an active member of the Cancer Committee at Northwestern Memorial Hospital since 2004.
Dr. Dutra is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, American Head and Neck Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the Endocrine Society.
