Biography

Richard G. Fessler, MD, PhD is a member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation (NMFF) and the Department of Neurological Surgery. He is a neurosurgeon on the medical staff of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a Professor of Neurological Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is board-certified in Neurological Surgery, holds a Master's Degree in Psychology, a PhD in Pharmacology and Physiology, a certification in NASA/SPACE SHUTTLE, and subspecializes in minimally invasive spinal surgery and instrumentation.

Dr. Fessler was recruited from the University of Chicago where he served as Chief of Neurological Surgery. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive spinal surgery and instrumentation and is internationally renowned. He has been an invited Visiting Professor to numerous universities; is a member of all the major neurosurgical and many orthopedic societies/associations; has been an Honored Guest of neurosurgical societies in many countries including Japan, Mexico, Egypt, South Africa, China and Argentina; and has an extensive publishing record. He has a particular interest in musculoskeletal disease and comprehensive care for those patients.
