Biography

Dr. Hungness joined the faculty of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine department of Surgery in July of 2006, where he specializes in the surgical treatment of gastrointestinal conditions and disease. He is closely involved in the development of innovative surgical techniques and training in the department of Surgery. Dr. Hungness is the Director of the Surgical Skills Curriculum for Northwestern's General Surgery Residency Program, where he leads the use of simulation technology in the training of the next generation of surgeons. His clinical research focuses on the pioneering use of Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES), which holds great promise for the enhancement of minimally invasive surgical methods.

Dr. Hungness is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School. He completed his Surgical Residency at the University of Cincinnati and a subsequent fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Northwestern.
