Biography
Dr. Labin Johnson is a native of Buffalo, New York. She earned her bachelor's degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. She spent a year abroad living in Toledo, Spain to further establish her skill in the Spanish language. Dr. Labin Johnson went on to obtain her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts prior to completing a 4-year residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was then awarded the position of being the founding fellow for a 3-year accredited fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Dr. Labin Johnson is currently the Ambulatory Medical Director for the Integrated Pelvic Health Program, a multi-specialty collaborative initiative within the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Labin Johnson is an attending physician with the Division of Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and is both board certified and a Fellow of the College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Labin Johnson is a member of various national and international associations including, The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), The American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), and the International College of Surgeons.
Dr. Labin Johnson's clinical interests include female pelvic organ prolapse, vaginal hysterectomy and transvaginal pelvic reconstructive surgery, genitourinary rectovaginal fistula repair, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder syndromes, and complicated childbirth-related pelvic floor injury. She holds a particular interest in Robotic-assisted laparoscopic pelvic reconstructive surgery, where she is one of few physicians in the Chicago area who is trained in Robotic surgery for female pelvic reconstruction.
Dr. Labin Johnson is active in international surgical relief mission work and volunteers gynecologic and urogynecologic services abroad with the goal of helping to improve the quality of life of women in developing countries by assisting local physicians with the high demands of care and shares in the responsibilities of teaching local physicians in training. Dr. Labin Johnson has offered her service to programs in India, Dominican Republic, and Bolivia and continues to pursue outreach programs in need.
