Biography
Dr. Mayuga, a cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, has a special interest in treating patients with arrhythmias, high cholesterol, lipid disorders, and hypertension. He has more than a decade of experience in clinical and general cardiology, including cardiac stress testing and pacemaker follow-up.
Dr. Mayuga has organized free medical clinics for ethnic Chicagoans, and is the recipient of many awards for outstanding service in medicine. He is a Philippine Heart Association Outstanding Fellow and has received the Excellence in Medicine Award from the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce as well as the Filipino-American Hall of Fame Award for Medicine.
In addition to his clinical practice and his work as an assistant clinical professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Mayuga researches cardiac arrhythmia and is the recipient of the Ed and Nancy Pool Research Grant.
Dr. Mayuga attended medical school at the Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines and completed residencies at both the Cebu Community Hospital and the Philippine Heart Center for Asia. He went on to conduct his fellowship at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. He is board certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, and he speaks Tagalog, Cebuano and Bicol.
