Biography
Dr. McGarry is a Northwestern Memorial Hospital cardiologist specializing in coronary care.
A consultant to the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, Dr. McGarry is an award-winning educator and researcher. An assistant professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. McGarry teaches and attends in the Coronary Care Unit. He received the Schweppe Foundation Career Development Award in 2003 and has received five awards for excellence in teaching from Harvard Medical School since 1998. He was also recognized for excellence in teaching and research in both his graduate and undergraduate career.
Dr. McGarry studies the control of cell division and has been awarded grants and fellowships from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Warren-Whitman-Richardson Foundation, and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
Dr. McGarry received his Ph.D. and M.D. from the University of Chicago. He completed both his internship and residency at Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital and his fellowship at the University of California-San Francisco Medical Center. Dr. McGarry is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.
