Biography

Dr. McKoy is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Preventive Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her residency and fellowship training at the University of Illinois-Chicago and Northwestern University respectively. She holds a Masters degree in Public Health with Delta Omega Academic Honors from the University of Illinois School Of Public Health, a Juris Doctor (JD) degree with additional certifications in International Law and Health Law and a LLM with Honors from Northwestern University School of Law.

Dr. McKoy is a full member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is certified in Bone Densitometry and is a member of the Northwestern University Bone Health and Osteoporosis Program (NUBOP), a multidisciplinary group of research investigators and clinical experts in bone and osteoporosis.

Dr. McKoy pursues NIH-funded cancer related research and is the recipient of a Career Development Award from the National Cancer Institute. A HRSA Grant Reviewer, she is engaged in multiple research projects that focus on cancer health disparities, adverse cancer drug reactions, mood disorders among ethnic minorities with cancer, prostate cancer in the domain of health literacy, cost-effectiveness analyses of cancer drugs, and the application of business models to elder cancer care. Dr. McKoy is currently pursuing research related course-work in business management and economics at the Kellogg School of Management.

Dr. McKoy is an appointed reviewer for the British Journal of Haematology, Virology, and Bone Marrow Transplant. Dr. McKoy has a growing list of publications in high impact journals, such as the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Stroke, Blood, Transfusion, British Journal of Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Pharmacoeconomics, Drug Safety, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology and is a sought after leader and speaker on geriatric/geriatric oncology related, elder law, and patient safety issues by many leading scientific associations, including the American Society on Aging, the National Council on Aging, the American Cancer Society, and the Alzheimer's Association-Greater Illinois Chapter.

Dr. McKoy has authored several book chapters and has been featured in Ebony Magazine, Chicago Hospital News, Satisfaction Magazine, Medscape, American Medical News, and on Chicago Tonight with Phil Ponce, the Today Show with Katie Couric and the NBC Evening News with Brian Williams. Dr. McKoy is listed in Madison 2008-2009 Honors Edition of Who's Who Among Executives and Professionals and Marquis Who's Who in America and is on the Board of Directors of Housing Opportunities and Maintenance for the Elderly (HOME), the American Cancer Society-Illinois Division, and the Fellows' Association Board of Leadership Greater Chicago, a highly prestigious nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Chicago's most promising leaders develop community awareness in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Dr. McKoy is a Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society, a Billings Fellow of the Institute of Medicine-Chicago, and a member of the Coalition for Quality and Patient Safety of Chicago-land (CQPS), the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, Academy Health, and the President's Circle of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
