Biography
Dr. Daniel Nagle completed his orthopaedic residency at Northwestern University Medical School and affiliated hospitals and completed a fellowship in hand surgery and microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky under the direction of Dr. Harold Kleinert and Dr. Joseph Kutz. Dr. Nagle has been practicing hand surgery and surgery of the upper extremity as well as microsurgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital since 1984. He holds the rank of Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Nagle is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery.
He is a member of 18 professional societies including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association for Hand Surgery, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has served as president of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery as well as the Chicago Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association for Hand Surgery. He currently is President of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has been a consulting hand surgeon to the Chicago Bears. He is currently the Consulting Hand Surgeon to the Chicago Cubs. He is a member of The Kiros Society, a national hand study group. He has been repeatedly selected as one of the best doctors in America and in Chicago.
Dr. Nagle is actively involved in the education of medical students, orthopaedic, plastic surgery and emergency medicine residents as well as other hand surgeons. He has written 52 chapters and articles including articles and chapters on wrist arthroscopy, the use of thermal energy in wrist arthroscopy, carpal tunnel syndrome and endoscopic carpal tunnel release. He has presented over 286 lectures on hand surgery, microsurgery, and surgery of the upper extremity. He has participated as faculty in, or chairperson of over 165 continuing education courses.
He treats problems of the upper extremity including but not limited to fractures and sprains, tendon, artery and nerve injuries, nerve problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, tendonitis, trigger finger and Dupuytren's disease.
