Biography

Dr. Lisa Neff joined Northwestern as an Assistant Professor of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Molecular Medicine in October, 2009. Dr. Neff earned her B.S. in German and Biology from Tufts University in 1994 and her M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 1999. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UIC in 2002 and dual fellowships in Endocrinology and Clinical Nutrition at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston in 2006. Upon completion of her fellowships, Dr. Neff joined the Clinical Scholar Program at the Rockefeller University in New York City, earning a Master's Degree in Clinical and Translational Research. Dr. Neff is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. She is also certified by the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists. She is an active member of The Obesity Society and the American Society for Nutrition.

Dr. Neff's clinical interests include the management of excess body weight, nutritional disorders, and weight-related metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. She also co-directs our Healthy For You: Healthy for 2 program, which is designed to help overweight women have healthier pregnancies.

Dr. Neff's research has largely focused on nutritional interventions for the treatment of weight-related metabolic disorders. She has also recently begun work on research projects designed to prevent excessive weight gain during pregnancy, which can have adverse consequences for both mother and baby.
