Biography
Dr. Olsson is Chief and Associate Clinical Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He serves as Director of Resident Training. Dr. Olsson is board certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. After he completed his undergraduate degree from Carroll University, Dr. Olsson attended Northwestern University School of Dentistry, where he graduated with Honors and was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society. He went on to do GPR and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residencies at Northwestern University and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Dr, Olsson has been active in both the national and international associations of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is Assistant Executive Director of the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Chair of the IT Advisory and e- learning Committees for the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has served on several committees at the University and Hospital, including the Surgical Chairs & Chiefs Committee, Northwestern Memorial Hospital; Northwestern Memorial Hospital Committee on Cancer; Admissions Committee, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program, Northwestern University; Quality Assurance Officer, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Northwestern Memorial Hospital. In addition, he is a fellow and member of numerous societies for his specialty.
Dr. Olsson is active on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and Editor-In- Chief for the Newsletter of the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was elected into the AO of North America, a non-profit academic organization for the advancement of patient care. Its main focus is to develop and support graduate and post-graduate education within the following surgical specialties: orthopaedics, craniomaxillofacial, spine, and veterinary surgery. Dr. Olsson has lectured extensively nationally and internationally for educational courses. His interest lies in facial trauma, facial reconstructive surgery and surgical implant therapy. This spectrum encompasses primary facial trauma, immediate and secondary reconstruction of trauma, oncological reconstruction of the maxillofacial region, Orthognathic Surgery reconstruction of developmental and acquired facial skeletal deformities, Obstructive Sleep Apnea surgery; implant surgery of the oral region for functional rehabilitation, and third molar surgery.
