Biography

After graduation from Rush Medical College, Dr. Ondra completed neurosurgical training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. At Walter Reed, Dr. Ondra received extensive training in both orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery regarding complex disorders of the spine.
Dr. Ondra arrived at Northwestern in 1996 where he was appointed Director of Spinal Surgery in the Department of Neurosurgery. He is also Vice Chairman of the Department and is the Residency Program Director. He is the Fellowship Director for Spinal Deformity Surgery and Medical Director of Northwestern's Neuro-Spine Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Ondra is a Professor of Neurological Surgery at Northwestern University.
Dr. Ondra has pioneered new areas of spinal surgery ranging from minimally invasive surgery to complex spine reconstruction. This reconstruction includes scoliosis, kyphosis, spine oncology, osteoporosis and sacral diseases. He is also a recognized expert in developmental anomalies of the spine and spinal cord.
