Biography
Dr. Puthumana is a cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial and a member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. His special interests include lipid management, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and disease prevention.
Dr. Puthumana has conducted research at Harvard Medical School in Boston and St. Luke's Roosevelt in New York City. He currently researches coronary risk factor profile difference in patients developing acute heart attack versus stable angina.
Dr. Puthumana attended medical school at St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences in India. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at Wayne State University in Detroit, where he was named Best Outgoing Resident in 2001. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology, and he speaks Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
