Esteemed lupus researcher and rheumatologist Dr. Ramsey-Goldman has helped to design and carry out multiple clinical trials of innovative therapies for lupus. As principal investigator for Northwestern's Patient-Oriented Clinical Research Program in lupus, she examines ways to improve the quality of life for people with the disease and also explores strategies for preventing and minimizing disease and treatment-related complications such as osteoporosis and heart disease. Other research interests include lupus epidemiology, clinical trial design, genetic risk factors, and pregnancy.

Dr. Ramsey-Goldman has an endowed professorship to continue her research as a Solovy/Arthritis Research Society Research Professor, established to support the efforts of distinguished scientists in arthritis and other connective tissue diseases.

Following the completion of a three-year term as the chair of the American College of Rheumatology's Committee on Education, she will become a member at large for this organization's Board of Directors. She has authored and co-authored over 150 journal articles on lupus and other topics, and was critical to LRI Chicago as a co-founder of the local Lupus Study Group.

Dr. Ramsey-Goldman joined the Northwestern University faculty in 1991, and was named professor of medicine in 2001. She completed her fellowship in rheumatology and clinical immunology as well as her doctorate in public health at the University of Pittsburgh. Her bachelor and medical degrees are from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
