Carol Saltoun, MD, MS is an attending physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the Division of Allergy-Immunology. She provides comprehensive care for patients with a broad range of Allergic and Immunological diseases including asthma, allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, urticaria, food and drug allergy and primary immunodeficiency.

Dr. Saltoun earned her undergraduate degree at Duke University in Durham, NC where she majored in Eastern European history. She then earned her medical degree at Rush Medical College and completed her Internal Medicine residency and Allergy Immunology fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She has been a member of the Northwestern faculty since 2000 and was the recipient of the T. Franklin Williams Scholars on Aging award in 2003/2004 to study asthma in the elderly.

Dr. Saltoun's clinical and research interests are in the care of older patients with asthma, in particular, the overlap of asthma with COPD, the affect of menopause on women with asthma, and the efficacy of currently available medications in this age group. She is also interested in the care of chronic urticaria and the use of corticosteroid sparing medications to treat difficult to control urticaria.
