Dr. Silverberg is a cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital whose special interests include valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, aortic aneurysms, atrial fibrillation, echocardiography, critical care cardiology and cardiomyopathy, in addition to general and consultative cardiology.With more than 25 years of experience in cardiology, Dr. Silverberg's clinical skills include cardiac catheterization, insertion of intra-aortic balloon pumps, endomyocardial biopsy, temporary pacemakers, pacemaker analysis and pericardiocentesis. He also has extensive experience with echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and stress echocardiography.

An associate professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Silverberg was also an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Southern California and an associate clinical professor at UCLA. Prior to joining Northwestern University, Dr. Silverberg received two Gold Apple Teaching Awards as Outstanding Teacher in both specialty medicine and internal medicine from MacNeal Hospital, as well as the Silver Apple Teaching Award in Specialty Medicine.

Dr. Silverberg's research initiatives include assessment of regional wall motion, stress wall motion analysis, early detection of coronary artery disease, electromechanical dissociation, sudden death and CPR and outcomes research in cardiac surgery. Dr. Silverberg attended medical school at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where he graduated with "great distinction" in 1971. He conducted his internship, residency and fellowship at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and went on to an additional fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at UCLA and was the recipient of the Medical Research Council of Canada Research Fellowship. A member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, Dr. Silverberg is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease and echocardiography. He is also certified by the Medical College of Canada and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in internal medicine. He speaks French.
