Biography

Dr. Melissa Simon is an Obstetrician Gynecologist and Assistant Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Preventive Medicine and Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She has subspecialty training in public health research, geriatric care, family planning, and reproductive health. She believes in the power of culturally relevant and literacy appropriate communication with her patients. She is a strong advocate of partnering with her patients to achieve optimal health.

Dr. Simon holds a strong research interest in leveraging research to empower, improve the health, and advocate for low income, medically underserved women across the lifespan. She is the Principal Investigator on several recent grants on barriers low income women face in obtaining care and treatment for abnormal cervical and breast cancer screens and on patient navigation-based interventions to overcome these barriers.

Dr. Simon received her BA at the University of Chicago and a Master’s degree in Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She attended medical school at Rush Medical College. She completed OBGYN residency at Yale, Geriatrics training at Johns Hopkins, and a family planning fellowship at Northwestern.
